21 Things 4 iPads: 2014-15
This program is designed to help participants learn a variety of tools for iPads. Through the course I learned about apps for collaboration, presentations, digital storytelling, assessment, and augmented reality. For each of the 21 things, I was required to learn about several app, create something related to the apps, share my experience, and respond to other participants. |
MiGoogle Conference: November 2014
Sessions focused on using Google apps and products for education. I learned about several Google Add-ons like gClassFolders, Doctopus, and Autocrat that will help me become a more efficient teacher. I also learned about new formative assessment tools, such as Plickers, that can easily be used with a single electronic device and some cards. |
Ed Tech Rally: September 2014
The tech rally offered time for people in all areas of educational technology to gather and share ideas. I gained valuable information from other schools who already are 1:1 with iPads and other devices, as well as apps and websites for screencasting, coding, and assessment. |
MACUL Mobile Learning Conference: April 2014
I attended this conference to gain more information on one-to-one technology practices. I also focused on session about building and technology coaches to obtain information that would be beneficial for our district in the fall as we go one-to-one with technology. |
Science Disciplinary Reading: December 2013
This conference concentrated on reading strategies for science students. ACT and EXPLORE style tests require students to read scientific texts, graphs and charts. The presenter focused on test reading strategies, and demonstrated how annotating scientific text can help students better understand the content. |
Implementing the Common Core State Standards: March 2012
I attended training for the Common Core Standards as the science representative for our district. In addition, I presented the information during a half day professional development session to our staff. The presentation provided the staff with sample lessons for the new curriculum, as well as a quick reference guide for the new changes. |
Title IIA Earth Science Grant at SVSU: Summer 2010
This two week summer course was an in-depth look at Earth science topics that are part of the Michigan High School Content Expectations. Several professors from SVSU and Delta College presented material on meteorology, astronomy, the geosphere, and the hydrosphere. I have adapted and implemented many of the lessons and laboratories that were presented during this course. |
MSTA Conferences: 2007-2014
I have attended several Michigan Science Teachers Association conferences over the years. MSTA always establishes relevant and current sessions, offered by teachers and educated professionals in the science community. Over the years I have utilized countless ideas and projects that were presented at these conferences. |
